Roger Gudenkauf
Roger Gudenkauf, was born November 30, 1943 on farm in Corning, Kansas. He attended St Patrick’s grade school and Corning High School graduating in 1961. During his youth, he worked on the home farm and with various other farmers, while enjoying playing football and baseball. About a year after graduating high school, he enlisted in the Air force. He trained as a radio tech and was sent to Lowry Air Force Base in Denver where he was assigned to the base training television station. It was there he met Shirley Van Woensel. They were planning a spring wedding but Uncle Sam said “no you are going to Turkey instead.” Returning home in late 1965, on August 21, 1965 he married Shirley. They began their whirlwind life together and settled in Wichita, KS to work for Beach Aircraft as a radio repairman/installer. Soon after, Roger’s cousin invited him to become a representative for Metropolitan Life Insurance in the office in St Joseph Missouri. He quickly became an accomplished salesperson and enjoyed the work thoroughly. Thru the next few years and various ups and downs he ended up with a 3M Company, Control-o-fax repairing copiers. Roger become a top salesperson and got promoted to sales manager. Upon graduating from Missouri Western, it led them to buy a Control-o-fax dealership in Denver. Starting a new business with now 4 kids wasn’t easy but within a couple years became very successful. Picking up momentum, he was approached by a couple of Doctors to do their billing for medical lab work. Professional Controls was formed and another chapter began. The Doctors were forced to merge with insurance contracts which gave Roger a management role. This wasn’t as satisfying since he wasn’t fully in charge so he decided to move on to do bulk mailing.
In 1993, Roger’s big heart and love for his family, formed a non-profit 501C3 organization that focused their work in local schools. Still to this day, they sponsor a summer work camp where campers from all throughout the country, come to Denver to help local residents with neglected house work they can no longer manage. Life changed in 1996 when Roger bought the Denver part of Mountain Imaging and Rocky Mountain Microfilm and Imaging (RMMI) was born. Starting with two scanners and a few small customers, RMMI has become a multifaceted document conversion, storage, and management company providing services to a diverse set of clients in Colorado, Kansas, and Wyoming. Roger has always been a believer in his businesses product, services offered, his family, and his wife, Shirley. RMMI quickly grew into a well-respected, leading organization within the electronic document management industry, all because of Roger and Shirley’s dedication and drive. RMMI continues to be known for honesty and integrity, quality of services, and for treating each customer with courtesy and respect. Roger showed RMMI and his clients, what it meant to be “part of the family.” In 2013, sold the family owned and operated company to his two children, Michael and Mary. Roger now gets to enjoy his retirement with such activities as golfing, traveling, giving back to his community, and still enjoys seeing his legacy live out inside RMMI’s culture and current growth. With knowing RMMI is stronger now than ever, Roger and Shirley get to enjoy their growing family (7 kids, 19 grandkids, and 2 great grandkids) and all the community outreach they still are so actively a part of. Roger is an inspiration to most and is a natural leader in how he treats others with his huge heart!
